Annual storage fees currently stand at £42.90 + VAT per year and the new owner must make arrangements directly with the warehouse after the sale. Contact details will be given by the current cask owner. Insurance, if required, is charged at 0.5% of the insured value (or purchase price) per year.
This cask was re-gauged 18/6/2026. The new re-gauged litres were found to be approximately 149.9 bulk litres at a strength of 54.1%. This would currently yield approximately 214 x 70cl bottles of cask strength whisky, currently 16 years old.

Whisky-Online Auctions Tasting Notes: Ardmore 2010 - Cask 802983 - 54.1%
Nose: Peach-led floral smoke with soft vanilla and a delicate hint of lavender, reminiscent of freshly pressed linen. Layers of pear poached in brandy emerge alongside ginger snap biscuit and a generous dusting of cinnamon butter, adding warmth and depth.
Palate: Light in texture yet surprisingly mouth-coating. Bright orchard and tropical fruits lead with tangerine, passion fruit, melon and a touch of ripe mango, before a gentle veil of fragrant smoke develops. Lemon zest, cracked black pepper and a subtle green bamboo note bring freshness and structure.
Finish: Soft citrus cordials and sweet barley water linger beneath a dry, gently spiced haze of wood smoke, leaving a clean and elegant conclusion.
Comments: Ardmore's distinctive Highland peat is the star here, framed by an attractive balance of bright fruit and restrained oak influence. The spirit remains expressive, vibrant and unmistakably distillate-led, offering an excellent snapshot of the distillery's character. A cask that has reached an ideal point for bottling, where freshness, fruit and smoke sit in confident harmony.
Ardmore is a Highland malt whisky distillery founded in 1898 by the Teacher’s family to supply single malt whisky for their famous blend. Teacher’s was taken over by Allied Breweries in 1976, by which time Ardmore had expanded to eight stills. Allied was itself swallowed by Jim Beam Brands in 2005, and Ardmore was launched as a single malt in 2007 with the release of Ardmore Traditional Cask. Jim Beam merged with the Japanese drinks giant Suntory in 2014.
Ardmore makes both peated and unpeated spirit, but only the peated version is bottled as single malt. Prior to the Jim Beam takeover, the only official Ardmores were a handful of legendary heavily sherried 1970s bottlings by Teacher’s and a pair of centenary bottlings from 1999. Under Beam/Suntory, official Ardmores are now widely available, while independent Ardmore is abundant and generally of excellent quality.
A private bottling is a cask of single malt or single grain whisky that has been bottled privately by its owner or owners, and usually bottles are not released for public sale. Private bottlings may sometimes be bottled for their owners by the distillery of origin, but are not official bottlings by that distillery.
Alternatively, if the cask is not housed at the distillery where it was made, it may be bottled either by another distillery or private cask storage facility, or transported to a third party commercial bottler.
Private bottlings used to be relatively common, a legacy of the whisky lake of the 1980s, when distilleries had excess stock and were desperate to offload their inventory. These kinds of casks rarely make it to private bottlings nowadays - casks that were very inexpensive twenty or thirty years ago have shot up in value, and distilleries have scrambled to buy back privately-owned casks of their own spirit, while cask owners are rarely short of offers from brokers or independent bottlers.

Any questions relating to condition, authenticity, provenance, fill level, dating or packaging must be raised before bidding. Questions or concerns raised after a bid has been placed, after the auction has ended, or after a Lot has been won will not constitute grounds for cancelling a bid, refusing payment or disputing the sale.
