Bruichladdich 1970 - 2006. 35 Year Old. 125th Anniversary Edition. One of 2502 bottles. Matured in Bourbon casks and finished in Zing Humbrecht Pinot Gris casks. 70cl. 40.1%. A very special 1970 Bruichladdich bottled for the distillery’s 125th Anniversary in 2006. Master Distiller Jim McEwan selected a small parcel of casks of the distillery’s classic 1970 vintage that had been maturing in ex-bourbon wood for 35 years and gave them a short finishing period - known at Bruichladdich as Additional Cask Evolution - in very special casks that had previously held the fabulous Clos Jesbal Pinot Gris Selection de Grains Noble from Malt Maniac Olivier Humbrecht’s world famous Zind-Humbrecht estate in Alsace. Bruichladdich’s wine finishes can be a little hit and miss to say the least, but this is one of the most gloriously successful ones, and remains hugely popular with fans. The resulting whisky was a small batch of 2502 bottles and was released at its natural cask strength of 49.2% without colouring or chill filtration in a very smart wooden box befitting the occasion.
