Clynelish 1982 - 1995. 13 Year Old. Bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Society cask number 26.4. One of 636 bottles. 70cl. 64.2%. 112.3 Proof. From the archives. "Woodsmoke and tarry tea. From the "new" distillery referred to in the introduction. The rich colour comes from a first fill unclassed sherry butt. The nose is sharp, creamy, with a trace of charcoal and some moss. Reduced with water, the first impression is of Sulphur, this then gives way to fruity notes (papayas), sweet sherry/ sour wine, with some fudge in the middle, and crowdie cheese. Woodsmoke and tarry tea emerge after a while. The flavour is explosive: a deep sweetness to start with and a dry, warm, English-mustardy finish. The original price for this bottle in 1995 was £38.
