Habanos S.A is the company responsible for the commercialisation of cigars globally. Each year Habanos S.A organizes the Habanos Festival in Cuba which is a week of cigar celebrations. Everybody related to Cuban cigars attends, distributors, retailers, journalists, smokers and even related industries such as spirits, rum & whisky etc. During the week many events take place, visits to factories, plantations, seminars, cigar dinners, whisky pairings, sommelier trainings etc. The pinnacle of the event is the closing gala which is a fabulous dinner with cigars. During that gala event there is always a closing auction, during which unique humidors (one off pieces) are auctioned. In February 2017 the 19th Habanos festival will take place (http://www.habanos.com/en/category/festival-habano/?age-verified=897b0aa105) The bottle of whisky is from the 5th Habanos festival which took place in 2003. During that year there was a lot of emphasis and activities around cigars and whisky. The Whisky Magazine was there and Whyte and Mackay, including Richard Paterson, who conducted a seminar. During the closing gala of the 5th Habanos Festival, The Whisky Magazine along with Whyte and Mackay presented this special piece, containing a 50 years old Dalmore and 50 Cigars (Cohiba Robustos). So most certainly this is a one off piece made for the purposes of the festival exclusively. Cohiba is the flagship brand of Cuban cigars and the most prestigious and expensive. Cohiba Robustos is a specific size of Cohiba cigars well known to smokers. Robusto in general is one of the most popular sizes in cigars, if not the most popular. You can find info on the cigars at the official Habanos.com The Cigars are currently being looked after by an agent of Habanos in Cyprus, they have specialised warehouses for the storage conditions required for premium cigars. (16-18 C and 65%-70% humidity). It is also highly recommenced that the winning bidder stores the Cigars at the same humidity once in their possession.
