Pinwinnie Royale was an important Scotch whisky brand in the 1970s and 1980s for owner Inver House Distillers, which was set up in 1964 as a subsidiary of the American firm Publicker Industries Inc. Pinwinnie Royale's range included a no-age-statement blend and a 12-year-old De Luxe expression. Pinwinnie Royale was popular in export markets, but the brand was discontinued around 2010.
Although a newcomer to the burgeoning blended whisky market in the 1960s, Pinwinnie’s branding was overtly old school, with the packaging proclaiming it to be ‘A Blend in the Old Tradition’. 1970s & 1980s Pinwinnie bottlings are likely to contain whisky from Bladnoch, which was owned by Inver House from 1973-83, and from the Moffat distillery complex which included the Garnheath grain plant and the Glen Flagler single malt distillery.
