The dark red of Honduras mahogany, beads right round the brim and breath of Jerez all indicate the same thing: the first fill of a great oloroso cask and 27 years' maturation in the old warehouse in Campbeltown. A nose of candied peel, muscovado sugar, allspice and cloves, with water gives way to a fruity floweriness. The taste is of perfumed barley-sugar or prunes in port wine. The finish is long and dry. It is dear, but worth every penny. It is excuse alike for selfishness and for a great generosity.
