Ballantine’s is an historic blended Scotch whisky brand originating from the Glasgow branch of the Ballantine family of wine and spirits merchants, which was set up in the 1870s by George Ballantine and received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1896. The company’s most famous blend, Ballantine’s Finest, was launched in 1910 and soon became a global brand.

Ballantine’s was taken over by the Canadian multinational Hiram Walker in the 1930s, with Walker’s Miltonduff and Glencadam distilleries subsequently licensed to Ballantine’s - these malts remain at the heart of the blend to this day. Hiram Walker sold up to Allied Lyons in 1987, with Allied later taken over by Pernod Ricard in 2005.
