Gilbeys Spey Royal - 1930s
1 bottle Gilbey's Spey Royal. Bottled 1930s. W&A Gilbey Ltd. Glen Spey Distillery, Rothes, Scotland. By appointment to his Majesty the King. Branded foil seal with stopper cork. Typical early 20th century two piece molded glass with natural inclusions. No box. No capacity or strength stated although equal to 75cl. Level top shoulder/base of neck. Wear and tear to label appropriate to age. One of many interesting and ancient blends you will find in our May auction. This will contain a high proportion of malt distilled at the Glen Spey distillery. Like many of the blends bottled before the war, the malt contributed was much more concentrated and often peaty. These make for a fascinating drinking sessions and often the only way to experience the flavour profile of a distillery from this period is through blends like this.
