Royal Salute 50 Year Old - Coronation Cask 1953-2003 - One of 255

Chivas' Royal Salute 50 Year Old Coronation Cask. Emlazoned with a unique sterling silver plaque, gilded in 24 carot gold, the deep blue porcelain decanter is nestled in a wooden presentation case with silver plaque and certificate. One of only 255 decanters produced. 70cl. 40%.

This is undoubtedly the most desirable of all the various Royal Salutes released over the years. Bottled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation and as a tribute to Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay; the first people to reach the summit of everest on 2nd June 1953, the same day as the Queen's coronation. Bottles were specially presented to both Sir Edmund Hillary and Prince Philip. The rest were sold largely through duty free outlets in Asian markets for $9000 a bottle. All bottles are long since sold out and now almost impossible to find.

An exceptional piece of craftwork and an exceptional whisky. This is the first time this bottle is appearing in an online whisky auction and its first appearance at any auction for a long time.
