An unusual Scotch whisky bottled for the Scottish Parliament under the name Uisge Beatha, the Gaelic term meaning “water of life”.
Produced during the early years of the devolved Scottish Parliament, which was established in 1999.
This particular example is especially interesting for the numerous handwritten signatures covering the label, several of which can be identified as prominent members of the early Scottish Parliament, including David McLetchie, Margo MacDonald, Robin Harper and Andrew Welsh, with the signature of Brian Adam also apparently present. The combination of signatories suggests that the bottle was signed during the formative years of the Parliament.
A fascinating piece of modern Scottish political and whisky history, made particularly unusual by its extensive collection of MSP signatures.
