Buchanans Black & White. Bottled January 1939. By appointment to the late King George V. King Edward VII & Queen Victoria. Spring cap with branded foil seal. No capacity stated although equal to 75cl. No strength stated. No box.
A wonderful old bottle of Buchanan’s Black & White blended Scotch whisky released in 1939, with the famous back label proclaiming its scientifically-validated merits: “For more than 30 years to date (Jan 1939) a leading expert has reported every month without exception, that the analytical figures are normal and that the taste and flavour are of the usual high order”. Black & White started out as the House of Commons house whisky but by the time this bottle was on the shelves it was already one of the UK’s most popular whiskies.
