Buchanans Black & White - Bottled 1939
Buchanans Black & White. Bottled January 1939. By appointment to the late King George V. King Edward VII & Queen Victoria. Spring cap with branded foil seal. No capacity stated although equal to 75cl. No strength stated.
A wonderful old bottle of Buchanan’s Black & White blended Scotch whisky released in 1939, with the famous back label proclaiming its scientifically-validated merits: “For more than 30 years to date (Jan 1939) a leading expert has reported every month without exception, that the analytical figures are normal and that the taste and flavour are of the usual high order”. Black & White started out as the house whisky for the House of Commons, but by the time this bottle was on the shelves it was already one of the UK’s most popular whiskies.
