Glendronach 12 Year Old - Circa 1940

Glendronach 12 Year Old. Official bottling from circa 1940s. Branded foil capsule over stopper cork. Glass moulding on rear of bottle reads 'Federal Law Forbids Sale Or Reuse Of This Bottle' and 'The Glendronach Distillery Co Ltd Huntly Scotland'. 2 part moulded bottle with glass coding that suggests wartime or slightly later glass production. Label style is that which first appeared during prohibition era and states 'Most suitable for medicinal purposes'. No statements of capacity. 70 proof.

This bottle came from a large collection of an elderly Scottish gentleman who is in his 80s and had begun to buy bottles in the early 1950s. One to keep and one to drink. All bottles have been stored upright in a cupboard since purchase. An influential bottle label that has inspired many bottlings since, a stunning and legendary bottling that rarely sees the light of auction.
